In this short post I wanted to share some of the 6000+ images I have taken during a trip to the USA last October. The trip led me (and my wife) to 10 different states including Massachusetts, Vermont, New Hampshire, Maine, Connecticut, Rhode Island, New York, Louisiana, Missouri and California.
Recently we went for another trip to the city. Taking the ferry from our new place really makes even the trip an event. Anyway, we ended up in Sydneys beautiful Royal Botanical Gardens.
Two weeks back we went for a trip to Sydneys southern beaches. First we headed towards the airport where we took a stroll in the Sir Joseph banks park where they have beatiful ducks and then we went on to La Perouse and Maroubra Beach. Apart from the driving there the trip was very nice.
This is the second part of my Sydey pictures. As suggested by the title these shots are taken during day time in Sydney Australia.
Since I have my new Tamron AF17-50mm F/2.8 Di-II LD Aspherical lens and the new Dolica Tripod I went out and took some night shots of the city. I think, both, the lens and the tripod were a good choice .
Last weekend we did a day trip to Watsons Bay here in Sydney. We took the ferry from Abbotsford to Circular Quay and then another Ferry from Circular Quay to Watsons Bay. Click the article to see more pictures!

Yesterday, we went bush walking in search of Koalas in Port Stephens. Apparently evenings are the best time to find them in ‘active’ mode as they tend to spend the whole day dozing off their Eucalyptus rush. In the evenings they tend to crawl around tree tops to feed on more Eucalyptus leaves.
After a few days without internet, we are back online . There are a few more shots of the bird life and some sunset shots which were taken off of our apartment balcony. Additionally, I am posting a few new photos taken during our trip to Maitland which is is between Newcastle and the Hunter [...]
Well, I have another set of pictures which are mostly shot from the balcony of our apartment. As you can see we have frequent visits by local Kookaburra birds. It seems they like the smell of our food .
Last night we arrived in Nelson Bay which is about 3 hours drive north of Sydney. My father-in-law came over from Germany after he ‘endured’ a long, cold and wet winter over there. We have rented a very nice apartment with views over ‘Little Beach’ in Nelson Bay. [mapearth=show;height=300;zoom=13] We took our bicycles so I [...]
Last week I was faced with the hard decision to choose a new zoom lens for use with my Canon 50D body. I did some research and found that the in-depth reviews by dpreview.com was pretty helpful for getting a in-depth review of some of the candidates under consideration
Yesterday, I took another short trip to the Sydney city after work to meet with friends in the Circular Quay. I took some AEB bracketed shots of the Sydney Harbour Bridge, the famous Opera house as well as the skyline.
This week we had the Queen Mary 2 cruiseship in the Sydney harbour for one day. Since the weather was good I decided to take my camera to work and go to the harbour after work. While I was in the city I also took some shots of various places in Sydney downtown. I have [...]
We went to the Australian Open Canoe/Kayak Slalom – World Series at the Penrith Whitewater Stadium in the west of Sydney. Seeing the competition reminded me a little of my time doing the kayak whitewater racing circle back in Germany.
After working all through the Christmas and New Year holidays 08 / 09 we decided to take a long weekend off and take a road trip to Kosciusko National Park which is located near Canberra, the Australian capital.

Some impressions of the last meeting of the Queen Elizabeth 2 and Queen Victoria cruise ships in Sydney harbour. The Queen Victoria cruise ship was decommissioned shortly after.
